Halls Electrical LTD have been working upon 12v, 24v, Car, Truck and Marine DC electrical systems since the company was originally established nearly forty years ago, but also has a very long history of designing, installing and testing of 110V and 230V AC systems for use on vehicles.
Our services include installing circuits and equipment from the simplest AC requirements such as providing a mains hook up facility for Motor homes and Horseboxes to complex Multi-voltage systems for Mobile Command units incorporating on-board generators etc.
Due to the increased risks with this type of electrical system compared to the low voltage DC types found on vehicles, we have kept up to date with the legislation and technical requirements that cover these on-board AC requirements and are members of the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC).
The NICEIC carry out regular assessments of our installation work and testing procedures. We have attained both an Approved Contractor & Domestic Installer status and our electricians have undertaken the necessary training to City and Guilds levels 2 & 3 Electrotechnical and also for the Periodic Inspection & Testing, including the 17th Edition requirements.
The design, installation and testing of our mains electrical systems complies fully with the 17th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (Amendment 3). The installation of AC systems within vehicles, (more commonly referred to as Mobile / Transportable Units), is considered to be a ‘special location’ and therefore requires additional considerations when compared with normal designs for fixed buildings. There is the possibility for various types of supplies to the vehicle (landline, generator etc), as well as varying Earthing arrangements all of which need to be addressed.
With our knowledge, expertise and technical back up, we are able to provide solutions that will meet with the end user’s requirements and satisfy the current regulations for applications of this type. The ability for us to work on both the DC and AC vehicle systems allows us to competently install, test and repair all aspects relating to the electrical circuits & components.
With the increasing use of Electric Vehicles, we have been involved with installing Modes 1, 2 & 3 Charging equipment at various locations, including within main dealer workshops as well as our own premises to allow the vehicles to be plugged in and charged correctly.
Our services are used by many Vehicle Conversion Specialists that build Motorhome and Horsebox conversions, Bodybuilders, the Emergency Services for their on-board charging facilities and large Fleet Users, in the knowledge that we are able to provide a system that is designed, installed, tested and certified to the specified 17th Edition regulations.
